The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
