Seamer Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Injury Problems.

'Significant concern' for the English camp after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

The pace bowler further complicated England's injury problems when he left the field during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his left hamstring after the final ball that he bowled on Saturday.

Team management indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time on the sidelines for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The final Test of the tour in Sydney begins this coming Sunday.

England have previously lost key quicks Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was called up as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, taking just three wickets.

He was omitted of the third Test, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 while batting among just a trio of teammates to get into double digits.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt for his hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out the previous Test.
